The Story
North Star is a short documentary that follows a team of researchers as they uncover the true story of their hometown's greatest export—legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley. Through these women's efforts to know Annie, we learn about the nature of legacy, community and place.
Told through verite footage, never before seen archival, and hand drawn animation, the film will inspire a new generation of viewers to the legacy of Annie Oakley and the Wild West and reignite generations past to examine their relationship to this history. In Annie’s story, is a wider lessen about self-determination for women in a society stacked against their success.
